Beach Ready Toes

As a woman who has worn heels most of my life, averaging 50 hours a week at work alone, my feet have seen better days. I  don't write them off completely though.....with a little TLC they can be sandal ready in no time. Now I try to save my $ and do my pedicure at home and as a busy Mom the only time I really have to do my toes is in the evening.

Step 1
Give your feet a nice soak in some bath salts and oils to soften them. We should all do this more often whether your doing a full pedi or just in need of a post shift soak to relax those tired feet.
Step 2
Exfoliate. Take a pumice or foot file and gently slough off the dead skin to soften tough calluses. This can be messy so do it over a towel for easy clean up.
Step 3
Clip and shape toe nails and push cuticles back. Be careful not to clip too short as you need a decent nail surface to apply polish.
 Step 4
Paint with base coat,  2 x polish and top coat. I opt for all coats as toes must stand against, chlorine, sand and sun.

Now you are ready to bare all....your toes that is!!!

Lunchkit

I LOVE this lunch kit by Goodbyn!!!

With 5 plus compartments to keep food separate and a water bottle it is the perfect storage for any child's lunch! It is dishwasher safe, comes in a variety of colours and even comes with stickers! Although I am not yet packing sandwiches for Hayden, I still pack a variety of choices for him to take to daycare. This kit holds it all. Check it out! Pin It

Coffee? Yes Please!!!!!

Before having Hayden I was never a huge coffee drinker. I would drink it at work but I didn't need it to function.  That quickly changed when I realized I was never going to enjoy the luxury of sleeping in ever again! I now truly enjoy a hot cup of joe much to my husbands dismay as he doesn't drink coffee. I have no problem making a pot as I am happy to drink more than one cup but I would LOVE a single cup machine like a Keurig or Tassimo! Perhaps.....one day!

One thing my hubby does enjoy is iced coffee. He is on his way home from a weekend of night shifts and with a family Easter dinner tonight what better time to make some?

1. Make pot of coffee 1/3 stronger than usual. (if you make a 6 cup pot do 9 spoonfuls of coffee)
2. Pour into pitcher
3.. add desired amount of sugar/sweetener while still hot for quick dissolving
4. add milk, cream or milk substitute
5. Refrigerate until ready to serve....add ice prior to serving! Pin It

Family Time

After what has felt like an eternity (7 years) of working hard, I was recently promoted to General Manager of the restaurant I work for. One of the perks of my position is the oh so desirable schedule (weekends off). Now for the past 4 months my dear husband has been working out of town every weekend.  To work so hard only to have my husband away each and every weekend takes away from the precious family time we both love so much.

I am very pleased to say that the hubby is working his last weekend and we can look forward to enjoying our weekends together as a family again! It has definitley been a challenge to spend the time apart. It is even harder to get aligned as a couple and a family upon his return as he works nights so he his sleep deprived as well.

It is important to work hard for your family and we both do a great job of that. However,  I am so excited to be able to reap the benefits of that hard work by simply enjoying some quality time spent together.

These are some pictures that Daddy took of Hayden at the park before he left for the weekend. Enjoy this Easter weekend with those you love, every moment counts!

Inspiration...My Creation

Wide Leg Jeans
This trend is popping up everywhere, especially with celebrities, and I must say I'm quite pleased with it. As much as I love my skinnies, its nice to put together a completely different type of everyday looks with jeans. Here is some celeb street style that inspired my look!
This 70's reminiscent look is easily dressed up with a darker colour palette and perhaps a blazer or can be worn more casually with a t-shirt and sunnies.

Layered Tee - Anne Klein
Wide Leg Trouser Jean - H&M
Snakeskin boots - Max de Carlo
Leather Boho Purse - Coach
Tiger scarf - Dollar Store!!!!

Don't be afraid to channel your inner 70's spirit and create a look with a lower centre of gravity. Long live the wide leg jeans! Pin It

Quick Fashion Fix - DIY

Here is a quick fix for the all too common low rise jeans and/or too short shirt. I can't stand when an outfit looks great standing up but as soon as you bend over or sit down you are suddenly not very well 'concealed'. I came up with the following quick solution.

Rather than purchasing long tank tops to layer under shirts and over jeans which can get hot and bulky, I cut a few old cami tops about half way down. The finished edge remains at the bottom faking the layered look. This gives me extra coverage when chasing Hayden around and picking him up!

So there you have it! Take those old tanks you never wear anyways and turn them into something useful! All you need is a pair of scissors!
